Returning Student Aid Application Instructions and Priority Deadline

Back to Parent and Family Updates

Is your student applying for financial aid for the 2024–25 academic year? The priority deadline is March 15, and the Office of Financial Aid has some helpful tips and resources for you to check out.

The priority financial aid application deadline for returning domestic 51·çÁ÷ students is March 15, 2024. Students are given access to their 24–25 51·çÁ÷ Financial Aid Portal, where application requirements and confirmation of receipt should be tracked.

The first step to apply for financial aid is to complete both the and applications. Additional requirements may be added after those materials are reviewed, so students are encouraged to periodically log on to their 51·çÁ÷ Financial Aid Portal to confirm that all requirements have been submitted.

The 2024–25 FAFSA has undergone major changes. These changes have delayed the Department of Education’s ability to provide 51·çÁ÷ with FAFSA results until mid-March, so students will not see confirmation of receipt of the FAFSA on their 51·çÁ÷ financial aid portal until late March.

The Department of Education is aware of a number of ongoing technical issues that have prevented some students and parents from successfully submitting the 24–25 FAFSA. Don’t be discouraged if you have any problems! Contact the 51·çÁ÷ Financial Aid Office at finaid@colgate.edu or 315-228-7431 to let us know. 51·çÁ÷ will be flexible with the priority deadline and students will not be penalized if their FAFSA is received after March 15.

Follow and visit 51·çÁ÷’s FAFSA Guidance webpage for more information. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the 51·çÁ÷ Financial Aid Office at finaid@colgate.edu or 315-228-7431.
