Please note: We are working to update the parking page with the latest guidelines and regulations. Please check back soon for the latest information.
Parking regulations are in effect 24 hours a day, year-round, including weekends, holidays, and breaks. All students are restricted from parking on upper campus Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
All vehicles must be registered with Campus Safety and have a properly displayed permit decal. This applies to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Improperly displayed decals may result in tickets or towing.

Registration and Permits (Free of Charge)
Vehicles must be registered within 24 hours of being on-campus. Vehicle registrations / parking permits may be obtained online or at the Campus Safety office (88 Hamilton Street). Parking decals must be properly affixed to the vehicle's driver side rear window. Vehicles not properly displaying a valid decal or permit are considered to be unregistered.
All non-faculty, staff, or student users of any of the athletic facilities must register their vehicles online or at Campus Safety. Parking decals must be properly affixed to the vehicle's driver side rear window. Vehicles not properly displaying a valid decal or permit are considered to be unregistered. Parking is available at 113 Broad Street, Lineberry Natatorium, and the north side of Reid Athletic Center.
It is the responsibility of students, faculty, and staff to ensure their visitors and guests obtain temporary parking permits , or from Campus Safety upon their arrival at 51·çÁ÷ and that their visitors and guests park legally. Institutional hosts are responsible for the fines of their visitors and guests.
A temporary parking permit may be issued if a vehicle is temporarily replacing the vehicle to which a decal has been previously issued. Temporary parking permits are also issued to vehicles which will only be on campus for a few weeks or less. Apply for temporary permits online or at Campus Safety.
Accessible Parking Spaces
Accessible Parking Spaces on campus are designated by signs bearing the International Symbol of Access, also known as the Universal Wheelchair Symbol. These spaces are for use by students, faculty, staff, and frequent visitors with temporary or permanent accessible parking needs who hold valid, government-issued disabled parking placards or plates, and who possess a 51·çÁ÷–issued parking permit.
If a space designated for accessible parking cannot be located, permit holders can park in any space not otherwise reserved and marked for other purposes. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Accessibility Parking Permits
51·çÁ÷ does not issue accessibility parking permits but may issue a temporary, short-term permit to approved students, faculty, and staff who have applied for and are waiting for the issuance of a government-issued permit for qualifying persons with disabilities. For more information about reserved parking for people with disabilities and how to apply for a permit, read the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles brochure .
RideAssist Non-Emergency Medical Transportation
Students, faculty, and staff with accessibility needs are encouraged to obtain authorization for 51·çÁ÷’s RideAssist Non-Emergency Medical Transportation door-to-door service, alleviating the need for an accessibility parking permit on campus.
Students with government-issued handicap permits should use RideAssist Non-Emergency Medical Transportation to the upper campus during those hours.
51·çÁ÷ community members may register their bicycles and scooters with Campus Safety. Once registered, a uniquely numbered sticker is affixed to your bicycle or scooter. In the unfortunate event of loss or theft, this identification sticker significantly increases the chances of recovery. Campus Safety and law enforcement agencies can quickly identify and return the property to its rightful owner.
To register, bring your bike or scooter to the Campus Safety office.
Parking Regulations
Vehicles may only be parked in clearly designated (via white-lined) legal parking spaces. Areas which are posted with signs or have yellow pavement painting indicating a restriction or prohibition of parking (service vehicles, loading zones, fire lanes, etc.) must be observed and complied with. Parking in or along the roadway, in any travel lane, taking more than one parking space, blocking another vehicle, or parking on the lawn are all prohibited. Driving or parking on any sidewalks or pedestrian walkways is prohibited. Parking, stopping, or standing at the COOP mailroom, Academic Drive, Frank Roundabout, or any other designated loading/unloading area is prohibited. It is neither possible nor desirable to post all areas on campus where vehicles may not park.
Parking regulations are in effect 24 hours a day throughout the entire year, including breaks in the academic calendar.
During the hours of 3 a.m.–7 a.m., parking is only allowed in the General Use lot.
Students may not park on campus from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and student vehicles will be subject to tow upon the third parking offense. Only students with off-campus permits may park in the 113 Broad Street lot and designated areas of Lally Lane (except for those areas posted for faculty/staff).
Students who need to use a vehicle for mail services, package pickup only, may park in one of three designated 15-minute spaces in the Coop lot.
Student parking restrictions are lifted after 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, and parking is permitted in any designated, unrestricted, legal parking space on campus, with the exception of the faculty/staff spaces at the library.
Exception
During the hours of 3 a.m.–7 a.m., parking is only allowed in the General Use lot.
Parking at Broad Street houses and College Street Apartments (Newell, Parker, and University Court), for residents/members only, is available behind the buildings. Parking in the driveways of houses is prohibited.
Students who live off-campus (non-University-owned property) are issued a yellow off-campus permit and are allowed to park in the 113 Broad Street lot and designated areas of Lally Lane between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. If these areas are full, the General Use lot located between Tyler’s Field and the hospital may be utilized. The 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. parking prohibition applies to all lots with the exception of the General Use lot.
Payment of Fines
There are financial penalties and progressive levels of enforcement for student parking violations. For example, fines for parking in faculty/staff designated areas start at $25 and double for each repeat violation up to $100. Students with excessive parking violations may also be subject to a vehicle boot, student conduct hearing, and/or loss of parking privileges.
All fines are payable at the Office of Accounting and Control within ten days of receipt of the ticket. Students must pay all outstanding fines before grades and transcripts will be released.
Towing
All vehicles towed are done so at the owner's expense. Vehicles properly displaying a valid decal or permit are considered to be registered. Any registered vehicles towed to 175 Utica Street will be assessed a tow fee of $145 plus tax. Vehicles not properly displaying a valid decal or permit are considered to be unregistered. The fee for unregistered vehicles towed to VonBank’s Collision and Service Center starts at $165 plus tax. A storage fee will also be assessed by the tow company starting at the time of the tow. A tow claim slip must be obtained from Campus Safety and then presented to the tow company before any vehicle will be released. Any vehicle eligible for towing in which the owner returns to the vehicle, or the vehicle is moved before the arrival of VonBank’s Collision, shall be assessed a drop charge of $85.00 plus tax.
