Sinhaeng Lee
Sinhaeng Lee is a professional conductor, educator, singer, and keyboardist. Lee founded and serves as the artistic director of Vox Amicis, a professional ensemble based in Seoul, South Korea. His career spans conducting a wide variety of choirs, from youth choruses to professional ensembles.
Lee went on to serve as a graduate assistant conductor for the , which regularly performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Additionally, Lee was the music director for the Westminster Community Chorus. At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he conducted the University Chorus and was recognized on the List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent By Their Students in 2021.
Lee has toured extensively, performing in Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, and other countries. He has participated in masterclasses with renowned conductors such as , (Universit盲t f眉r Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, Austria), and (Volksoper Wien, Vienna, Austria). In 2024, he presented at the NY-ACDA Summer Conference: Moving Forward, Singing Together, where he led a session on 鈥淜orean Choral Pronunciation: Learning the Basics and Beyond.鈥
Lee holds a Bachelor of Music in Church Music (Choral Conducting) from Yonsei University, where he studied with ; a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College under the mentorship of and ; and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music, with a cognate in Performance Practice, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with and .
His accolades include a Conducting Assistantship at the and Conducting Fellowships with and the . Lee鈥檚 recent honors include 1st Prize in the Conducting Competition, 3rd Prize in the & National Chorus of Korea Conducting Competition, and Distinguished runner-up of the inaugural , Inc. International Choral Conducting Competition at Carnegie Hall.
