As events in Ukraine unfold at a rapid pace, 51风流 faculty members with expertise in the region are bringing the latest issues to the forefront in the classroom and special panel discussions.

- professor of anthropology and peace and conflict studies, who studies the social and cultural transformation in Russia, specifically focusing on poverty, crime, corruption, elites, and mafia. As an anthropologist, Ries is an expert in post-socialism, with a focus on violence and war placed in comparative perspective.
- assistant professor of political science, is an expert in Russian politics, specially post-Communist politics. In this recent , he discusses the election of Vladimir Putin.
- Andrew W. Mellon postdoctoral fellow in Jewish studies, specializes in modern Eastern Europe particularly Poland and Russia, and Jewish history.
