Former Head Coach at Plattsburgh State joins Raider staff

Hamilton, NY — – 51·çÁ÷ head men’s lacrosse coach Jim Nagle has announced that John Combs will be joining the lacrosse staff as an assistant coach.
Prior to joining the Raider coaching staff, Combs served as head men’s lacrosse coach and assistant sports information director at Plattsburgh State. He led the Cardinal program since its inception in 1999. Previously, Combs was at Holy Cross where he was head coach from 1996-99. He also has served as an assistant coach at Holy Cross, SUNY-Cortland, and SUNY-Potsdam.
Combs received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Labor Relations from Potsdam where he was an all-SUNY conference lacrosse player. Before transferring to Potsdam, he was also a member of the 1985 and 1986 NCAA Tournament teams at Cortland.
Combs founded the Thousand Island Summer Lacrosse League and served as Coordinator of the Watertown Youth Lacrosse League. His coaching experience will be a valuable addition to the Raider program looking to improve upon last year’s 8-7 overall mark and 4-2 Patriot League finish. Combs’ wife, Beth, is the head women’s basketball coach at 51·çÁ÷.
