Hamilton, NY — – The second event on the Faculty Features at Midday concert series at 51·çÁ÷ will take place on Thursday, November 2. Titled ‘One Hundred Years of American Song,’ the recital will feature soprano Lauralyn Kolb accompanied on piano by Tina Toglia. The recital, at noon in 51·çÁ÷ Memorial Chapel, is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be served. For more information, or a complete concert calendar, call the 51·çÁ÷ Concertline at 315-228-7642.
Kolb is teacher of voice at both 51·çÁ÷ and Hamilton College. Toglia teaches piano at Utica College. Their November 2 program will be divided into sections based on the texts of the songs, rather than following a strict chronological order. The first section will be based on Old English texts and the second, on works of Emily Dickinson. The second half of the recital will feature works composed around texts of James Joyce and e.e. cummings. Within each section, the duo will perform pieces written in the early 1900s as well as in the last decades of the century.
