Field Hockey Picks Up Third Straight Win With A 1-0 Shutout Over Lehigh

BETHLETHLEM, Pa.— Sophomore Sarah McCarthy (Harrisville, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal to lift the 51·çÁ÷ field hockey team to a 1-0 win over Lehigh Saturday afternoon.

With the win, 51·çÁ÷ improves to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League while Lehigh falls to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in league play. The Raiders have won three straight games.

McCarthy scored her fourth goal of the season at 7:54 of the first half off of a corner.

The Mountainhawks outshot the Raiders 12-5 while Lehigh had the edge on penalty corners with an 8-4 advantage.

51·çÁ÷ freshman goalkeeper Jacque DeMarco (Hudson, Ohio) finished with six saves and Lehigh’s Jeanine Hoff and Meghan Gove split time in goal and each player made two stops.

51·çÁ÷ travels to Rider on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m.
