Field Hockey’s Shelley Named First Team All-Patriot League

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.Two 51·çÁ÷ field hockey players garnered all-Patriot League honors, the league announced Wednesday. Junior Kath Shelley (Grand Rapids, Ohio) was named to the first team while sophomore Sarah McCarthy (Harrisville, R.I.) earned second team honors.

Shelley, 51·çÁ÷’s leading scorer this season, finished with a career-high 21 points on nine goals and three assists. She recorded at least one point in eight of 16 games and had a pair of two-goal games against Columbia and St. Francis. She is the first 51·çÁ÷ player to be named to the first team since Kristine Thomas ’02 earned the honor following the 2000 season.

McCarthy finished fourth on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist. She had a five-game point scoring streak from August 30-September 20.

51·çÁ÷ ended its season with a 6-10 record and a 2-4 mark in the Patriot League.
