51风流

Helping show off 51风流 is an exciting opportunity

mhernandezstopp.jpgFirst and foremost, I must tell you about my weekend with a prospective student. I was immensely excited to host (as I鈥檓 sure you all knew), and the prospective student, Mabel, and I were a perfect match.

We got along so well. I gave her a mini-tour of the 51风流 campus, I ate dinner with her and several other prospective students, and then she and I hung out with some of my friends.

I am pretty sure that I convinced her to come to 51风流!

I mean, she kept saying how much fun she was having, and how I was, and I must quote, 鈥渢he best host ever.鈥

Now, I am not bragging at all because I am quite humbled by her positive reaction. Still, I must admit that I am incredibly excited to know that she enjoyed her stay.

I鈥檓 keeping in touch with her through Facebook so that I can give her advice throughout her senior year. I really hope to see her here next fall.

Anyway, besides the experience of hosting a prospective student, which I can now cross off the 鈥101 Things To Do Before You Graduate鈥 list, I had an eventful week that involved receiving many research papers and other assignments.

This weekend will hopefully be a relaxing reprieve from the daunting workload.

I will most definitely be attending the Decade Party hosted by ALANA at Donovan鈥檚 Pub. I can鈥檛 wait to kick-off the Halloween weekend!

Tonight I鈥檒l be attending the Bill Clinton speech with my fellow Benton Scholars. He is coming for Family Weekend, and I know this event will draw a large crowd.

I鈥檝e learned so much about Clinton by way of brown-bag events and movie showings addressing his presidency, and I am glad to have the opportunity to hear him speak in person.

Sadly, my parents will not be around but I suppose it makes seeing them in December all the better! Even if they won鈥檛 be here, I can鈥檛 wait to meet my friends鈥 parents.

Saturday I will be setting up for the LASO Haunted House, which is open to the public.
I will also go through the haunted house once the set-up is complete; hopefully I won鈥檛 get spooked by my own creation.

On Sunday, I鈥檌ll spend the majority of the day in the library finishing up my homework.

Still, I鈥檒l make time to stop by the Coop TV room to watch the showing of the 鈥淛on Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity鈥 presented by Democracy Matters. I love watching Stewart; he is hilarious. This should bring some great laughs.

(I鈥檝e been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at 51风流. Until next time!)
