I really don’t feel like I’ve left. The usual people are in their usual places, I have a usual amount of work, but it is unusually warm and there is unusually little snow. But everyone is rejuvenated from break and ready to face the end of term. I heard five different accounts of getaways to warm weather places, and while they all sounded incredible, we unanimously agreed at the end that it felt good to be back.
I welcomed the barrage of e-mails and overstuffed mailbox and couple hundred pages of reading for class tomorrow. I made promises to people we’d get together during the week and vowed to go to the library Sunday night as soon as it was dark. I welcomed the routine.
