CENTER VALLEY, Pa. ‘ Kate Barrett ('xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags' />Troy, N.Y.) capped a great season by being named Patriot League women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Year.  Barrett, who was Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2000, led the league in goals (17), points (43), and game-winning goals (6).  She is the fourth different player to win the award for 51·çÁ÷; Sena Maziarz won the award in 2000.

Barrett set records and climbed up the career charts at 51·çÁ÷ in 2003.  Her 17 goals and 43 points this season are the best marks ever at 51·çÁ÷.  She is currently fifth all-time in goals with 35, third all-time in assists with 25, and third in career points with 95.

Barrett is joined on the first team by sophomore Carolyn Warhaftig (Wyckoff, N.J.) and freshman Kellen Kroll (Chatham, N.J.).  Warhaftig earns first team laurels after a fine season at the midfield.  The sophomore tallied seven goals, passed off three assists, and was third on the team in scoring with 17 points.  Her height and ability to out-jump opponents was a huge asset for 51·çÁ÷ on restarts and corners.

Kroll is honored after turning in a stellar rookie campaign.  The defender started all 19 of 51·çÁ÷’s matches and helped anchor a defense that allowed just 0.93 goals per game this season.  She helped 51·çÁ÷ allow a league-low three goals in Patriot League matches and 18 in all matches.

The Raiders also had two second-team members in Kelly Kuss (Warners, N.Y.) and Kyle Koch (Niskayuna, N.Y.).  Kuss is honored with second team laurels for the second consecutive year, while Koch makes her first appearance on the all-league squad.

Kuss earns second team honors after her best season at 51·çÁ÷.  The sophomore front-liner tallied 11 goals, seven assists and 29 points, good for second place on 51·çÁ÷’s squad.  She finished in the top 10 in all of the offensive categories in the league as well.  With her 19 career goals, she is tied for 14th on 51·çÁ÷’s all-time list.

Koch makes it two Raider defenders on this year’s team.  The junior started all 19 matches and assisted on two scores.  Her play as the last defender in front of the goalkeeper helped 51·çÁ÷ to allow its fewest goals in a season since 1993 when the Raiders gave up 17 scores.

The Raiders are getting set for the Patriot League Tournament that begins Friday, November 7.  51·çÁ÷, the number three seed, battles second-seeded Navy at 1:30 p.m. on Reeves Field in Washington, D.C.
