Legendary alpine climber Jeff Lowe will present a slide show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, for the 51·çÁ÷ Base Camp Series.
The presentation will be in Room 300 at Olin Hall.
Lowe’s feats in high altitude alpinism, vertical ice climbing, and mixed climbing are world-renowned, as are his slide presentations.
Lowe brought the climbing world to new levels with his alpine ascents in the 1970s and ’80s, his ice climbing routes in the ’80s and ’90s, and his mixed routes throughout.
A master of the art of ‘mixed climbing’ climbing routes consisting of rock and ice Lowe has been mentor to many of the up and coming world-class climbers. His more than 20 years of climbing are a virtual chronicle of some of the most difficult ascents (and descents) in the world of mountaineering.
51·çÁ÷’s Base Camp is a classroom, office, rental center, meeting ground, and generally home-away-from-home for the 50 Outdoor Education staff members and directors.
An extensive resource library can inform and advise on anything from rock climbing knots to leadership tips to telemark turns. Base Camp’s map library covers all of the Adirondacks, local areas, and the Northeast.
