McKinnon Announces Class of 2006.

HAMILTON, N.Y. ‘ The 51·çÁ÷ men’s track and field & cross country program announced its Class of 2006 which includes five distance specialists and two spinters.

‘We are excited about the prospects of what the team can achieve with this group of incoming freshman,’ said head track and cross country coach Art McKinnon.   ‘It is a group that will have an opportunity to come into a great situation with our returning upperclassman.’

Additions to next year’s team include:

Distance:
Sean Curran, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Saratoga Springs
Curran, who has personal bests of 9:28 in the 3200, and 4:23 in the 1600 was sixth in the New York Class A Cross Country Meet and 11th at the New York State Federation Meet.  He was also fifth at the New York Indoor State Championships this year.  Curran also served as captain, was named to the 2001 Adidas All-America Track Team, and was also a member of the fifth place finishing 4×1600 at Outdoor Junior Nationals.

Jake Krong, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School
Krong, who has personal bests of 4:21 in the 1600, 9:32 in the 3200 and 15:39 in 5K cross country distance owns Amsterdam high school records in cross country and the 1600.  Captain of his team, Krong is also a member of National Honors Society, and was also selected to the first team of the Big Ten Conference in both track and cross country.

Nate Rosenthal, West Hartford, Conn., Hall High School
Rosenthal, who has personal bests of 4:27 in the 1600, and 1:58 in the 800 was an all-state selection in cross country, indoor and outdoor track, as well as the all-academic in the three sports.  Rosenthal, who attended the same high school as current 51·çÁ÷ 1500 runner Ian Hill was also seventh at the Connecticut Class LL Meet.

Tyler Duchasek, Waterville, Vt., St. Johnsbury Academy
Duchasek, who has personal best of 16:31 in cross country was a team captain and First Team NVAC All-League Selection.  Duchasek was captain of the track and cross country teams and also a member of National Honors Society.

Luke Merkel, Arlington, VA, Yorktown High School
Merkel has personal bests of 1:59 in the 800 and 2:41 in the 1000. He is captain of the track and cross country teams at Yorktown High School, and was a second team All Region Selection indoors at 1000 meters. 

Sprints:
Will Arnold, Atlanta, Ga., Alonzo A. Crim High School
Arnold, a running back/defensive back football recruit owns personal bests of 21.49 in the 200 and 48.79 in the 400.  At last year’s Georgia State Meet he was second in the 400, and first in the 200.

Alex Fuller-Young, Phoenixville, PA, The Hill School
Fuller Young, who was a four-year letter winner in track, has personal a personal best of 41.1 in the 300 Hurdles and 16.5 in the 110 Hurdles.
