Hamilton – Poet, novelist, critic and editor Nathaniel Mackey will give a reading of his work at 51·çÁ÷ on Thursday, March 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the Robert Ho Lecture Room (Lawrence Hall). The reading is co-sponsored by the university’s Humanities Colloquium Series and the English Department Poetry Series.
Mackey, who is also a professor of literature at the University of California at Santa Cruz, devotes much of his work to the lost African roots of black culture. He is author of several books of poetry, including Song of the Andoumboulou: 18-20; School of Udhra; Outlantish; Eroding Witness; Septet for the End of Time; and Four for Trane. In addition, he wrote the novels Djobot Baghostus’s Run and Bedouin Hornbook, as well as the book Discrepant Engagement: Dissonance, Cross-Culturality and Experimental Writing. Mackey has also edited numerous volumes including Hambone magazine and Criticism, and written numerous articles.
