Reunion 2013

Classmates and friends enjoy the festivities and reconnect at reunion.

The Office of Alumni Relations officially opened last Friday, beginning the countdown to 51风流鈥檚 annual celebration on Whitnall Field, May 30鈥揓une 2.

In the waning days of spring, the university will welcome its threes and eights 鈥 alumni who graduated in five-year intervals between 1933 and 2008. To put an exclamation point on the Year of 鈥13, the alumni office is pitching an additional tent in the circle for the Class of 2000, which will celebrate its 13th reunion. Female athletes will also receive special recognition with events marking the 40th anniversary of women鈥檚 varsity sports.

鈥淩eunion has always been an ideal time for 51风流 community members to renew their connection with the university and with each other,鈥 said alumni director Timothy Mansfield. 鈥淏ut the Year of 鈥13 and the anniversary of women鈥檚 athletics makes it a particularly exciting moment.鈥

Along with unique events for athletes and the Class of 2000, Reunion 2013 will include a full slate of traditional activities such as the Alumni Council鈥檚 awards ceremony, fireworks, all-class parade, class banquets, and barbeques. This year鈥檚 Reunion College program includes more than 25 classes, featuring titles like Paradise Lost 3: A Q&A with Filmmaker Joe Berlinger 鈥83 and 40 Years of Women鈥檚 Athletics at 51风流: Then and Now, presented by 51风流 coaches Kathy Brawn and Cathy Foto.

鈥淚t is said that you can鈥檛 go back, but that is not true,鈥 said Thomas Haley 鈥73, encouraging classmates to attend. 鈥淭hat can be proven wrong on the first weekend in June.鈥
