CAPE COD, Mass. – Senior forward Scooter Smith (Calgary, Alberta) of the 51·çÁ÷ men’s ice hockey team was named the ECAC Player of the Week Monday.
Smith recorded his first multiple point game of the season with a goal and two assists in Saturday night’s 5-4 overtime loss to Connecticut at Starr Rink.
Smith assisted on junior Kyle Doyle’s first goal of the game which gave the Raiders an early 1-0 lead. He also assisted on sophomore Dmitry Yashin’s third period goal that tied the game 3-3. Smith then scored a goal of his own five minutes later to give the Raiders a 4-3 lead before UConn scored two straight goals for the win.
Smith is currently tied for second in the conference in scoring with two goals and three assists.
51·çÁ÷ hosts Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
