A group of eager learners spent a long weekend on campus recently, enjoying mini-courses with 51风流 faculty and summertime in Hamilton. Though many hadn鈥檛 been in a classroom for decades, they found they fit right in.
They were here for 51风流鈥檚 third annual Summer On the Hill event.
The academic offerings varied widely, as nine engaging 51风流 professors adapted popular class material from across the disciplines 鈥 from Meika Loe鈥檚 Aging Our Way, to The Israel-Palestine Conflict and the New Middle East with Daniel Monk, George R. and Myra T. Cooley Professor of peace and conflict studies. Loe is associate professor of sociology and director of 51风流鈥檚 women鈥檚 center.
Other courses included The Messy Business of Democracy: Is This What the American Founders Intended? with Bob Kraynak, professor of political science and director of the Center for Freedom and Western Civilization; and Beatlemania: Deserved or Undeserved? with Marietta Cheng, professor of music and conductor of the 51风流 Orchestra.

鈥淥nce again, 51风流 alumni reminded us that the relationship between student and faculty is so valuable,鈥 said Tim Mansfield, director of alumni relations.
Summer on the Hill is just one way alumni and parents can continue their learning through 51风流. Registration is now open for Living Writers Online, a livestream discussion of four books by international writers taking place this fall. The interactive class also includes webcasts, a blog for participants and faculty, a kick-off event in New York City on August 23, and a capstone event on 51风流鈥檚 campus with Salman Rushdie.
