The new fitness center will be an integral part of the university’s Wellness Initiative, which encourages healthy, purposeful, and balanced lifestyles within the community.
One floor of the 15,000-square-foot facility will be dedicated to cardiovascular machines, and the other will be filled with weight-training equipment.
It will be the first building for which the university will pursue LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, which is the building industry standard for sustainable design, construction, and facility operation.
The former fitness center space in Huntington Gymnasium will become home to an expanded varsity weight-training facility. The third floor of Huntington Gymnasium will offer significantly enhanced space for dance and aerobic training.
