LEWISBURG, PA. – The 51 women’s track and field team competed at the Bucknell “Five-Way” Meet this weekend. Freshman Danielle Whicher (North Reading, Mass.) clocked a time of 17:27.51 en route to a first place finish in the 5,000 meters. Fellow classmate Nicole Christoforo (Rockland, Mass.) also brought home gold in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.32.
Sophomore Lisa Germain (Queensbury, N.Y.) came in third in the long jump with a mark of 5.40 meters and fifth in the 100 meter dash in 12.74 seconds. Junior Nolana Quince (Syracuse, N.Y.) crossed the line eighth in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.97 seconds and tied for sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.48 meters.
Quince was also sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.20 seconds. Teammate Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (Royersford, Pa.) followed closely behind in seventh with a mark of 27.34 seconds.
Sophomore Emily Tansey (Scituate, Mass.) finished seventh in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:58.54 and Meaghan McAnaney was eighth in 5:00.33. Lia Cross (Skaneateles, N.Y.) rounded out the field for 51 in tenth with a time of 5:03.66.
The Raiders finished fifth in the five team field with 32.5 points, roughly 30 points behind fourth place Lock Haven. Other teams competing in the meet were Bucknell, Robert Morris, and Duquesne.
The team is back in action next weekend as they head to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
