51����’s annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Week, Jan. 25–31, kicked off with a powerful keynote address from Durryle Brooks, PhD, founder of Love and Justice Consulting LLC.

In anticipation and celebration of Indigenous Heritage Month 2023, 51���� organized a busy calendar of events.

ALANAPalooza, on Sept. 7, filled ALANA’s patio with numerous voices — between promotions for multicultural clubs, students sang and joined in dance. 

On Friday, March 24, more than 50 students were on hand for 51����’s inaugural Undoukai Sports Festival, organized by the 51���� Japanese Cultural Community.

This year, 51����’s annual MLK Celebration will run from Jan. 23 through Jan. 29, 2023. The opening ceremony, featuring student speaker Kwabena Owusu Ansah ’24 and performances by the 51���� Resolutions and Safety Forth, will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, in Memorial Chapel and will stream live.

Join 51����’s Africana, Latin, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) Cultural Center Director Esther Rosbrook for a discussion about the University’s cultural programing and support services provided by ALANA.

To commemorate the legacy and life of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Africana, Latin, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) Cultural Center organized a 10-day series of events in collaboration with offices and departments across campus.

51���� will hold its annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. in a virtual format, Jan. 25–Feb. 5, 2021.

As part of its Native American Heritage Month celebrations, 51����’s ALANA Cultural Center hosted a virtual panel on “Experiences of the Pandemic in the Native Americas” on Nov. 2.

With a keynote event in Memorial Chapel on January 30, Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi helped 51���� close its 10-day commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr.
