Semester Programs

51·çÁ÷’s Office of Off-Campus Study provides full-semester academic opportunities around the world. Travel, live, and study with 51·çÁ÷ classmates and a 51·çÁ÷ faculty adviser while immersing yourself in new cultures.

The Department of Geography co-sponsors, with the Environmental Studies Program, a semester-long study group at the University of Wollongong (UoW) in Australia during both the fall and spring semesters.

An exchange program with UoW allows select 51·çÁ÷ and UoW students to pursue comparative research in American and Australian contexts. Exchange students work with 51·çÁ÷ and UoW faculty to produce research — worthy of professional publication — in both social and environmental geography.

Extended Study

Some geography courses include an extended study opportunity in which course participants continue the class off campus for two or three weeks at the conclusion of the semester. Past extended studies in the geography department have traveled to Uganda and to Western Australia.
