Every Friday the 13th, the 51·çÁ÷ community celebrates . . .
51·çÁ÷ Day is a worldwide celebration that takes place every Friday the 13th. It’s a day to gather with 51·çÁ÷ friends and show your pride for alma mater, to wear maroon, and to show your love on social media. On 51·çÁ÷ Day we celebrate our 51·çÁ÷ spirit, and our connection with 51·çÁ÷ alumni spread all across the globe.
On 51·çÁ÷ Day, we issued a challenge that if 3,113 members of this community made a gift, a group of generous challengers would give $1.5 million in support of the 51·çÁ÷ Fund - specifically the 51·çÁ÷ Commitment, the University's initiative in access and affordability.
Thank you to the 3,691 members of this community who met the 51·çÁ÷ Day Challenge, making gifts totaling $1,968,628 in support of the 51·çÁ÷ Fund. When added to the $1.5 million unlocked by our challengers, a total of almost $3.5 million was raised. This is truly remarkable and is an important step forward in our continued fundraising efforts for the 51·çÁ÷ Commitment. While it is true that we have significantly more to raise in order to reach our ambitious financial aid goal - to see 50% of students eligible to receive aid - we took an important step forward on 51·çÁ÷ Day.
