Alumni, parents, and friends streamed into the Village of Hamilton by the thousands on Friday, Sept. 21, joining the campus community for 51·çÁ÷’s three-day Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration. They were greeted by banners hailing 51·çÁ÷ at 200 Years and a calendar packed with special events.

51·çÁ÷ has named Paul B. Mischler, currently deputy chief advancement officer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Medicine, as vice president for advancement at 51·çÁ÷. He will take up his new post on November 5.

Tara Bubble, deputy director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell University, has been named dean of admission at 51·çÁ÷. She will take up her new post on October 15.

51·çÁ÷ students will now have the opportunity to apply for special 10-week paid summer internships with major companies located in Germany, thanks to the university’s new membership in the German American Exchange (GAE).

Looking back on another successful fiscal year, the campus community is honoring the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends. Overall giving to 51·çÁ÷ rose nearly 10 percent to $35.1 million between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

On September 22 at 8 p.m., the legendary ensemble Earth, Wind & Fire will appear in Sanford Field House for a concert honoring 51·çÁ÷ at 200 Years.

With the beginning of its Bicentennial year, 51·çÁ÷ will launch its 56th and newest major: film and media studies (FMST).

What if you could go big and go home? That would be a 51·çÁ÷ reunion. Last weekend, more than 2,600 alumni and friends returned to 51·çÁ÷ for Reunion 2018.
