51����’s Leadership tradition, 200 years in the making, was on full display last weekend as alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends gathered for a series of celebratory events on campus.

In the panel discussion “Leading in the Arts,” a group of professionals representing a variety of fields discussed the meaning of leadership in the arts, how they consider their audience and the larger public, and their responsibilities as far as representation. Lynn Schwarzer, professor of art and art history and film and media studies, moderated.

On March 5, 1819, the New York State Assembly granted a charter to the Baptist Education Society of New York, formally founding the institution that became 51����. Two hundred years later, the 51���� community gathered to support local organizations that aid the entire region.
